Ferrari 702T Advantages
::
Fire safety advantages
The FERRARI®* Précontraint textiles conform to international
fire standards (M2 in France, B1 in Germany…). They are
self-extinguishing, flame retardant and do not provoke the
fall of burning droplets.
The FERRARI® Précontraint textiles react to fire in a
specific fashion, ensuring proportional smoke extraction in
relation to the centre of the fire
thanks to the ‘automatic’ opening of the welding spots
:: Durability advantages
The Fluotop membranes have a considerably longer life-span
thanks to a "useful" protective layer. The long-term
durability of the mechanical properties of a composite
membrane is directly proportional to the thickness of the
coating layer on the top of the yarns.
:: Dimensional stability advantages
The Précontraint membranes offer very similar elongation
characteristics under load for both the warp and the weft,
as well as minimum creep over time. The dimensional
stability of the Précontraint membranes enable:
• Buildings to be definitively constructed and therefore
permanent from the very outset: re-tensioning is not
necessary, thus avoiding extra labour costs. Moreover, a new
tensioning operation is not always possible if the
integration of the textile structure into an existing
building is complex or if the attachments to the framework
allow for little adjustment (eg. fixed surrounds).
• Perfect surfaces and designs that keep their shape and do
not develop
pockets or flap in the wind.
:: Environmental advantages
For several years now, issues concerning end-of-life
solutions for the Précontraint composite membranes and
textiles have become a major concern and a priority for
FERRARI. FERRARI’s R&D Department has come up with the
Texyloop process, a unique recycling technology for PVC
coated textiles. The Texyloop process generates ready-to-use
flexible PVC and polyester fibre. The high quality of these
materials enables them to be reused in numerous industrial
applications. With the Texyloop process, FERRARI has the
solution for modern society’s principal concerns: the
recycling of waste and products in the end-of-life phase,
economy of raw materials and respect for the environment.
::
Maintenance advantages
To ensure that the FLUOTOP fabrics retain their good looks,
Ferrari has developed a detergent compatible with the
membrane’s formulation as well as a maintenance guide
outlining the best cleaning practices.
:: "Technical" advantages
Ferrari’s® Précontraint technology, patented worldwide,
consists of pre-stressing the textile base materials, before
and during all the coating operations. Unlike with
traditional textiles, the Ferrari® Précontraint membrane is
subjected to a balanced and regular tensioning process both
in the direction of the warp and the weft, which creates
similar elongation properties in both directions and minimum
creep over time.
:: Installation advantages
The Précontraint technique, ensuring a thicker coating on
the top of the yarns, means that the manufacturer can be
confident in the safety of any welding that is carried out.
Several assembly systems can be proposed
(see FREQUENTLY ASKED
TECHNICAL QUESTIONS "how is it held up?").
The Précontraint technology, as a result of the bi-axial and
regular controls carried out throughout the coating process,
creates reliable, uniform and reproducible mechanical
behaviour. When different batches of base materials are used
for identical modules in the same structure, they are always
perfectly in line with the initial calculations and cutting
plans. As a result, the geometry is respected (pockets are
avoided).
:: Surface resistance test
This test, a reference in the building paints & varnish
sector, validates the surface treatment’s resistance to
mechanical stress. Once scarified, the Fluotop suffers no
surface deterioration or detachment whether new or after
accelerated
::
Luminosity performances
The quality of natural
lighting is a determining factor when opting for a textile
solution. Fluotop offers a higher degree of natural lighting
and therefore improved interior comfort
:: Anti-ageing test

Retaining of gloss (tests carried
out by ELF Atochem): the fluoridated
polymers retained 80 % of their
original shine after 10 years. The
best of the other coatings only
retained 20 %.
The gloss levels
were measured on a
gloss meter at 60 % |

Retaining of original colour:
after 10 years, the PVDF
treatment reveals a
deterioration of only 2.5
NBS units. The best of the
other coatings revealed a
deterioration of 5 NBS
units.
The colour
difference is
