CAPE SHADE: THE ENVIRONMENT

Recycling of Membranes – Cape Shade extensively uses Ferrari Architectural PVC.  Ferrari has developed the Texyloop system which allows for 100% recycling of their fabrics.

Recycling of steel - All steel used by Cape Shade is 100% recyclable and can be melted down and re-used.

At Cape Shade we are very aware of the ever changing environment and the need for our products and services to develop in order to provide humans, plants and polymers with the protection they deserve in this ever changing environment.

Cape Shade offers a wide range of products to assist with protecting you, your family, friends and patrons from the harmful effects of Ultra Violet Radiation.

UV radiation is subdivided into three wavelength bands,

   1)     UVA (315-400 nm) - UVA radiation is important in the generation of photochemical

smog and also in fading and damage to plastics, paints and fabrics

   2)     UVB (290-315 nm) - 1% of solar radiation is within the UVB band, most of this is

absorbed by ozone. Nevertheless, the UVB region is of particular interest because

these wavelengths can cause damage at the molecular level (e.g., to DNA molecules,

which are the building of life), and small changes in ozone can lead to large changes

in UVB radiation reaching the Earth's surface.

   3)    UVC (220-290 nm) - is totally absorbed by ozone and other gases, and does not

           reach the Earth's surface.

Information: Cape Shade has conducted major research into the effects of the Sun on plants, polymers and humans.  We have detailed information that is available on request.
